About IGG Hard Fibres
Intergovernmental consultation forum on trends in production, consumption, trade and prices of hard fibres, convened under the FAO Committee on Commodity Problems with FAO as secretariat. The Subgroup of Sisal and Henequen Producing Countries sits under this group and is the only standing intergovernmental body dedicated to sisal; its 22nd Session met jointly with the 41st Session of the IGG on Hard Fibres and the 43rd Session of the IGG on Jute, Kenaf and Allied Fibres in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, 27-29 May 2024. Tanzania has participated in Subgroup sessions. The group's periodic market reviews are the standard international reference for sisal supply, demand and representative quotations.
